This year’s ‘Movie under the Stars’, presented by RE/MAX Success and in partnership with realestate.com.au, exceeded expectations with more than 2,000 movie-goers coming together at Toowoomba’s Queens Park last Saturday 4th November, to support Make-A-Wish® Australia.
The open air cinema-style fundraiser featured the hit family-friendly animated movie ‘Sing,’ with the event raising more than $3,000 toward the foundation, which provides joy to children and teenagers battling life-threatening medical conditions through making their wishes come true.
Batmobile Qld made a special star appearance with Batman on the night, wowing guests as he arrived in his handcrafted Batmobile.
RE/MAX Success Broker Owner Katie Knight said final figures for the night were still being tallied, with local businesses at the event also donating a portion of their sales.
“In our second year hosting this event, we were stoked to see even more families coming along to support this fantastic charity. We had local businesses there supporting the event and had a great overall turnout. Thankfully this year we didn’t have to battle the elements like we did in 2016. Everyone had a fantastic time!”
RE/MAX Success is a proud supporter of Make-A-Wish, with sales professionals donating a portion of each sales commission to the foundation, which is then matched dollar-for-dollar by the RE/MAX Success office.
Ms Knight said the event was an “overwhelming success”, with plans already in place to ensure next year’s event is even bigger and better.
“We received some really great feedback from local families who commented on their joy at being able to participate in the event with just a small charitable donation required,” Ms Knight said.
One happy Facebook user shared her thanks to the team for showing kindness to the community saying, “as a family who can’t afford many luxuries, it was amazing to give our kids a cinema experience whilst giving what we could to Make-A-Wish…” and “Every member of your team had a smile on their face and were happy to be there.”
The team’s next community event will be their free Easter Egg Hunt, also hosted in the beautiful Queen’s Park grounds, set down for Sunday, 25th March 2018. This will be the third year running the event for RE/MAX Success, which last year saw over 50,000 Easter Eggs up for grabs and thousands enjoy the free family fun.
