Historic Maleny Lodge sold under the hammer on 25th of July after a very active auction marketing campaign from the RE/MAX Hinterland team.
Auctioneer and a principal RE/MAX Hinterland, Mark Clayton, said after solid attendance at all open homes, more than 40 attended the auction held on site at 58 Maple Street.
The boutique hotel in the main street of Maleny business has been operating continuously as a successful boarding house, guest house and bed & breakfast for over 60 years.
Built circa 1905, and originally named ‘Rosedale’, the eight bedroom, eight bathroom homestead sits in a picturesque setting of approximately 2582 square metres. While a swimming pool and summer house are more contemporary additions, there is still an old well that served as Maleny’s water supply over 100 years ago.
The vendors have an alternate business focus while the Sunshine Coast-based buyer, Douglas Michael, intends to operate the lodge as a family business in keeping with the heritage of Maleny. His daughter Eloise will manage the lodge upon her return from London in late August, where she has been managing the Grange Lodge, a boutique style B & B hotel in West London.
Mark Clayton says marketing such a notable property had been a highlight for the team.
“We all took great pleasure in this listing and it was very rewarding when it sold under the hammer,” said Mr Clayton.
