Security guards were on hand as a capacity crowd watched Wisteria Lodge sell under the hammer for $5.05m on the last Saturday of March.
The Cape Cod-inspired home on one hectare of land in the outer Brisbane suburb of Gumdale fetched a record price for the suburb, exceeding the previous record by $2million.
Approximately 1000 people viewed the property through the four-week auction campaign executed by the Evans Properties Team and RE/MAX Results.
Marketing agent Fraser Evans had sold a vacant block to the owner of Groove Property, a prestigious Queensland construction company, a couple of years ago. He constructed Wisteria Lodge as a ‘forever home’ for his family, then Mr Evans found him another acreage opportunity in the area.
As a result, one of Brisbane’s most striking residences in a suburb highly sought after as the closest acreage to Brisbane CBD, has new owners. The buyers were already Brisbane residents.
Mr Evans said he had received well over 100 calls and emails requesting an inspection within hours of the property listing going live, so he wasn’t surprised at the attention the property had received, and the outcome itself.
“We realised early in the campaign that the auction day crowd would be huge,” he said. “The first open home had attracted a record number of inspections. The security guards were effective in keeping the event orderly and gave a sense of calm and confidence.”
Evans Properties Team took a nearby Belmont acreage to auction at 4pm the same day. Sale negotiations are under way there.
“We have a one-hectare property at 175 Boston Road, Belmont, which is offered to the market for the first time in more than 36 years, going to auction on 17th April, and the level of enquiry is extremely high.
“There is a lot of interest in this acreage precinct of just 1000 properties due to its proximity to Brisbane CBD,” Mr Evans said. “With people’s lifestyle choices and flexibility in work arrangements changing in response to COVID, acreage properties are in high demand.”
