On the 18th June Wynnum will celebrate one of the longest nights of the year with the RE/MAX Advantage Illuminations Festival. The town will be humming with activity as colourful lanterns, a tethered RE/MAX hot air balloon and illumination displays light up the foreshore from George Clayton Park to the Wynnum Wading Pool and Jetty.
Now in its third year, the RE/MAX Advantage Illuminations festival is a celebration of culture and light, the brain child of a culmination of like-minded people with a desire to put Wynnum on the map. Since its inception, RE/MAX Advantage has been involved in this community event and is the main sponsor, contributing financially and with plenty of their own ideas (including the RE/MAX hot air balloon) in order to make this event a spectacle to behold.
Joining RE/MAX Advantage as they raise support for Make-A-Wish® Australia will be fire twirlers, stilt walkers, street entertainers, and music from the Bandstand. On the Wading Pool floating lanterns will come to light on dusk, and stand-up paddle boarders will demonstrate their skill.
A fireworks display, from a barge moored off Darling Point will conclude the event. A large market will open on the Lower Esplanade, featuring a large selection of local food and artefacts.
A Lantern Parade commences at dusk with more than 2,000 children from local schools marching from the Wynnum Wading Pool along the cycleway to Drevesen Park at Darling Point, accompanied by performers and bands.
A great initiative by RE/MAX Advantage and we are delighted to see this event growing year on year. If you are in the area, make sure you visit the team for an afternoon filled with activities and fun for the family.
