Australian music icon Peter Cupples played, around 100 poured into the Wynnum street and the historic bayside character home that’s housed three generations of the Brewer family sold under the hammer for $2,050,000.
30 Melville Terrace was the home of local identity, Iris Brewer, who passed away earlier this year and the late real estate legend, Don Brewer.
Their son, Peter Brewer, is chairman of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland.
Four very active bidders, from the 12 registered bidders, kept auctioneer Justin Nickerson nimble until the hammer fell.
A local couple won out on the day and plan to live in the home.
Marketing agent Lyn Griffiths, RE/MAX Central Residential, said all interested parties had expressed a desire to respect the property rather than an interest in redevelopment.
“We had an incredibly successful campaign. It was a showstopper property online with potential buyers just loving how
it looked.
“It was the number one viewed property in Queensland on realestate.com.au.”
She said the buyers had visited the house once prior to auction day and the underbidder had only seen the property online.
“It was a wonderful outcome for a bayside landmark.”
Peter Brewer had booked the band for Opens and auction day in a nod to his mother’s musical heritage. Iris Brewer was a musician and cabaret singer who in her later years became famous as ‘the pink lady’ hosting charity events in her Wynnum home.
