Almost 20 years ago, Mary Horner bought her house in the Brisbane suburb of Camp Hill with the help of RE/MAX Results agent, Allan Tillett.
At the time, on first sight, she said it wasn’t her style – but Allan knew her better than she realised. He took her inside and she instantly fell in love. Roll forward a couple of decades and Mary and husband Shane decide it is time to move elsewhere. They looked to Allan for assistance.
The home had been built in around 1940. While Mary and Shane had kept it maintained, they had made no improvements since the time they purchased it.
With Allan’s huge database to call on, a traditional marketing program was unnecessary. He had three perfect-fit buyers in a couple of days. All that was left was for Mary and Shane to select the best all-round offer.
The home they’d bought for $545,000 back in 2004 had almost doubled in value, selling for more than $1mil. The sale price exceeded the valuation Mary and Shane had received. The sale was subject only the standard cooling off period.
The happy buyers had recently moved back to Brisbane from Sydney and are now looking forward to renovating their new home.
“The sale was the beginning of a new chapter for Mary and Shane and I’m chuffed to have helped them sell for a great price with multiple offers off market,” Allan said. Mary had a surprise for him the night they signed the contract.
“Her father had framed the advertisement in the Courier Mail all those years ago when they purchased and Mary wanted me to have it. It is now a memento I will proudly hang on to.”
