RE/MAX First’s ‘Fabulous Funky Fashions’ turned heads and raised more than $3800 for Beautiful You, a charity that supports women with cancer and their families.
Real estate agent and fashion parade organizer Sandra de Jersey said 25 local business assisted RE/MAX First in making the event such a success.
“It meant we were able to maximize the number of raffles and completion so lots of ladies – and gentlemen – could go home winners.
“And the delicious high tea would not have been possible without the catering support of Kristy McClellan and Ash Topfer.”
While the men were a little outnumbered, they were still evident in the room of a little under 200.
Popular man of radio, Hot 91.1’s Sam Coward was a special guest, relieving RE/MAX First’s Charlie Campbell from MC duties for a short while until he had to race back to the charity cricket match he was playing.
According to Mr Coward, he’d only gotten out so he could rush to the charity fashion parade, and then was rushing back to bowl an over or two.
On a more serious note, he recounted how his own mother had kept her own cancer from him and his siblings as she remained a pillar of strength in the family.
The 14 models, wearing clothes and accessories from the Beautiful You stores in Maroochydore and Bokarina were a collection of Ms de Jersey’s friends, ex-work colleagues and Oztag girls.
“The models were as gorgeous as the fashions themselves,” she said.
Touching everyone’s heart was Deb Little’s courageous story of battling breast cancer since 2005 and now being faced with the reality of an inoperable situation. She spoke of the support and strength she’d received from Beautiful You, and particularly its founder, Debbie Clayton.
The third annual ‘Fabulous Funky Fashion’ organised by Sandra de Jersey for Beautiful You was held at the Caloundra Rugby Union Club on 30th October. She held the 2014 event at The Wharf Tavern, Mooloolaba, and last year’s event at Debbie Clayton’s home, selling around 150 tickets for each.
This year, Ms de Jersey’s employers, Karl and Lindi Rademeyer, owners of RE/MAX First in Caloundra, threw their support behind the event, covering the venue cost and providing other resources.
With plans for a fourth annual event already under way, Ms de Jersey is also rapidly forging a reputation as an exceptional real estate agent. Contact her on mobile 0438 975 045 or email to sandradj@remax.com.au.
