RE/MAX Australia held its first Project Marketing Forum this month, specifically designed to demystify the project sector for real estate agents.
Key speaker at the forum was John Lunney, Development Director at De Martini Fletcher, supported by RE/MAX Advantage broker owner, Tandi Gill; RE/MAX Advantage sales associate, Reno Muscat; and RE/MAX Results marketing specialist, Leo di Pinto, three RE/MAX agents who are already prominent in the projects area.
“John Lunney provided an excellent perspective on property development and marketing through his extensive experience in medium to large-scale projects,” said Mr Muscat, “and he was able to explain much of the technical aspects in a way that agents will relate to with increased confidence.
“Tandi and I spoke more on the process.
“Project marketing more-or-less came to us rather than us making a career decision to get involved with the sector. With rezoning occurring in our market, we came to be project marketers by default as the developers sought us out.”
Mr Muscat said key suburban markets in Brisbane would continue to be impacted by transit-orientated development and there was opportunity for residential agents to work alongside developers.
“The role of the Forum was to help to remove any nervousness agents might have about the project development process, to answer current questions and to facilitate moving forward with RE/MAX involvement in project marketing,” he said.
Twenty-five agents from across Brisbane attended, with interests ranging from five-townhouse developments to large multi-level complexes and land subdivisions.
RE/MAX Australia launched its project marketing website recently, http://projects.remax.com.au/ and an annual project marketing forum is now planned.
RE/MAX professional development manager Melanie Marsh said creating and supporting the project marketing community within RE/MAX would hone the skills of its agents specialising in the sales and marketing of medium density and mid-rise apartments to assist developers with marketing and sales strategies to drive maximum returns.
“We have a growing team of agents across Australia and New Zealand, all with experience and expertise in project marketing,” she said.
