Dave Murphy had gavel in hand when generous Cairns’ bidders help raise more than $10,000 at a charity auction recently.
His office, RE/MAX Real Estate Services, donated a signed Storm jersey as one of ten items under the hammer. Bidding reached an impressive $2700.
The auction was part of one of Cairns’ biggest annual charity events, the FNQ Emergency Services Ball, a gala evening at the Cairns Convention Centre attended by more than 600 and complete with live music and fireworks.
“The event gets bigger each year and tickets sold out in the first week,” Mr Murphy said.
While RE/MAX Real Estate Services is the main auction office in Cairns, this was Dave Murphy’s first time as its charity auctioneer.
“It was a sensational success, loads of fun, and, I believe, raised more than $60,000 for this year’s chosen charity, Kick On, which promotes positive mental health through various programs, events and campaigns.
“We are regular sponsons of the event and will definitely be back next year.”
Planning is already under way for the 2022 FNQ Emergency Service Ball, to be held on 6th August.
