RE/MAX has embraced Smoke Alarms Australia’s expertise and disciplined approach to offering protection for owners, tenants, landlords, real estate agents and housing providers.
The Australian-owned and operated company formed in 2005 as a specialist in fire protection for residential properties.
“Smoke Alarms Australia, from the outset, displayed an impressive critical responsiveness to changes affecting people in our real estate industry, as well as those owning and living in homes,” said RE/MAX Australia Finance Director Chris Chapman,” and this brought the company to our attention and gained our respect.
“The company launched when the installation of smoke alarms became mandatory for all residential properties in NSW, with similar legislation implemented since in other states.
“Our members and associates across Australia are now linked with what we feel is the most diligent smoke alarm compliance company in this country, with the experience of servicing more than 220,000 properties in a year,” he said.
It was initially the real estate industry that identified the need for specialist expertise to assist with duty of care and ensure that property management portfolios complied with smoke alarm legislation.
Gina Wood from Smoke Alarms Australia said, “Our purpose is to ensure landlords, tenants, property managers and agents are informed of what is legally required to keep properties compliant.
She said every landlord’s duty of care extended to the installation and maintenance of compliant and working smoke alarms.
“At Smoke Alarms Australia, we service smoke alarms to the best fire safety standards and to the legally enforced legislation of the many states we operate within.
Mrs Wood explained, “Under the partnership, RE/MAX property managers can be assured that smoke alarm compliance for their property portfolio will be handled end to end. Our customer service team will also work directly with tenants to troubleshoot beeping alarm issues and a custom-built portal will streamline invoicing and sync with agents’ systems.
“The launch of our new tenant app should help alleviate some of the pressure put on property managers by tenants,” she said.
“For the safety of all concerned, and due to the complexity and structure of the various legislative requirements, we believe that smoke alarms should be placed in the hands of trained compliance specialists,” said Mr Chapman.
“Through partnering with Smoke Alarms Australia, we give our landlords and tenants a better, safer experience where one company delivers trained technicians, helpful scheduling staff, a dedicated customer service team and readily available account managers combining in an easy-to-manage smoke alarm compliance program.
“A compliant functional smoke alarm is critical for the early detection of a fire in a home and could mean the difference between life and death,” Mr Chapman said.
